How to perform Istikhara for marriage or other matters

The Sunnah method of Istikhara is to recite two rak’ah of Nafl prayer of (voluntary prayer) with the intention of Istikhara at any time of the day or night, provided that it is not a time that is Makru (prohibited times) for prayer. The intention should be that I have this matter or problem before me, and in this matter the path that is best in the favor of me, May Allah Almighty should decide/choose that way for me.
After complete two Rak’ah, beg Sunnah Dua of Istikhara After the Salam and prayer, recite the Sunnah supplication of Istikhara, which the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has advice/exhorted. (Dua is mentioned above).

When one reaches the point of “ھذا الامر” while doing Dua, if one knows Arabic, one should mention one’s need at that point, that is, should not say this word ‘‘ھذا الامر’’ at that time but mention your matter/wish or the purpose of doing istikhara, that is, one should replace “ھذا الامر” with the name of your’s work, for example, should say “هذا السفر” (this travalling) or “هذا النکاح” (this marriage) or “هذه التجارة”(this trade) or “هذا البیع” (this sale).

If one does not know Arabic, one should say “ھذا الامر” and think in one’s heart about the work for which one is making istikhara.
